Its Official - Raiders Offer Worst ROI of Any NFL Team

What do the New York Knicks and Oakland Raiders have in common? Both franchises have the highest team payrolls in the NBA and NFL respectively, yet both franchises have been dismal on the court/field of play.

USA Today unveiled its list of NFL team payrolls for this season and we learned that the pitiful Oakland Raiders have the highest payroll in the NFL at over $152M.

And if you didn’t notice this week, the Raiders waived CB DeAngelo Hall, who they signed to a 7-year, $70M contract this past offseason after making a deal to acquire him with the Atlanta Falcons this past offseason. So if you are keeping track, Hall was paid $8 million for only eight games with the Raiders; he received a $7 million signing bonus and a $1 million base salary. Because he's a vested veteran, his $1 million salary is guaranteed. Atlanta received second- and fifth-round draft picks in the trade with Oakland.

In addition to the Hall debacle, Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell, the top pick in the 2007 NFL Draft is earning $16.9M this season and is the 4th highest paid player in the NFL.

Yet more reasons why the keys to the car should be taken away from Raiders owner Al Davis. His franchise is a disaster.

Steelers QB Ben Rothlisberger is the highest paid player in the NFL this season earning $27.7M. Amazingly enough, Pats QB Tom Brady, Colts QB Peyton Manning and Giants QB Eli Manning are not amongst the top 25 highest paid players in the league this season. But just because you don't have a big annual salary doesn't mean you didn't get paid. When Peyton Manning signed his most recent contract in 2004, he received a $34M signing bonus so his annual salary is only $11.5M because he received a good chunk of his contract up front.
